Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2 was introduced in April 2016, replacing the original camera module.
Features a Sony IMX219 8-megapixel sensor, an upgrade from the original 5-megapixel OmniVision OV5647 sensor. Designed for high-definition video recording and still photography.

■ Can capture high-quality still images with improved resolution, color accuracy, and low-light performance.
■ 15cm ribbon cable connects to the CSI port on any Raspberry Pi model (1, 2, 3, and 4).

■ Requires a Raspberry Pi Zero camera cable for Raspberry Pi Zero models, as the standard cable is not compatible.
