Raspberry Pi RTC Battery

The RTC Battery SC1163 is an official Raspberry Pi accessory designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5 to maintain accurate system time when the main power supply is disconnected. This battery powers the onboard real-time clock (RTC), ensuring that the date and time are preserved even during extended power outages or when the device is moved between locations without internet access.

It features a rechargeable ML2020 lithium manganese dioxide coin cell, pre-assembled with a 2-pin connector that plugs directly into the dedicated RTC battery header on the Raspberry Pi 5 board. An included double-sided adhesive pad allows secure and tidy mounting inside a case or enclosure.

The Raspberry Pi 5 integrates a power-management IC with RTC and battery charging capability, allowing this battery to recharge automatically when the board is powered (charging must be enabled in system configuration).
