The SC1998 Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera Rev 4 is an official Raspberry Pi camera module designed for high-speed imaging, machine vision, robotics, automation, and scientific capture applications where motion distortion must be eliminated. Unlike standard rolling shutter cameras, this module uses a global shutter sensor, allowing the full frame to be captured simultaneously. This makes it ideal for conveyor systems, object tracking, drones, sports motion capture, robotics, AI vision systems, and industrial inspection.

Built around the Sony IMX296 1.58MP sensor, the camera provides excellent light sensitivity with 3.45µm x 3.45µm large pixels, enabling short exposure times and clear motion capture. It uses the same C / CS mount lens system as the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera, giving users access to a wide range of interchangeable lenses for custom focal lengths and machine vision setups.
