SN75117P - DIP

These integrated circuits are designed for interfacing between TTL-type digital systems and differential data-transmission lines, making them particularly useful for party-line (data-bus) applications. They combine a 3-state differential line driver and a differential-input line receiver in a single package, operating from a single 5V power supply. The driver inputs and receiver outputs are TTL compatible.

The SN55116, SN75116, and SN75118 offer the features of the SN55113 and SN75113 drivers and the SN55115 and SN75115 receivers combined. The driver can perform dual input AND and NAND functions when enabled or present a high impedance to the load when disabled. The driver outputs are similar to TTL totem-pole outputs but with the current-sinking and current-sourcing portions brought out to adjacent package terminals. This allows the option of using the driver in an open-collector output configuration or in a normal totem-pole output configuration by connecting the adjacent source and sink terminals.

The receiver section of the SN55116, SN75116, and SN75118 features a differential-input circuit with a common-mode voltage range of ±15V. An internal 130-Ω equivalent resistor is provided for optional line termination. A frequency-response control terminal allows the user to adjust the receiver speed or improve differential noise immunity. The receivers have additional features such as output strobe, split totem-pole output, or output-enable depending on the specific model.

The SN75117 and SN75119 provide the basic driver and receiver functions of the larger models but in a smaller package size. These devices are primarily intended for party-line or bus-organized systems, as the driver outputs are internally connected to the receiver inputs. They have a single data input and a single enable input. The SN75117 receiver has an output strobe, while the SN75119 receiver has a 3-state output enable. However, these devices do not offer output connection options, line-termination resistors, or receiver frequency-response controls.
