The WT8043 is a synchronous signal discriminator designed for multi-sync display monitors, capable of identifying and processing a wide range of video signals. Developed by Weltrend Semiconductor, it supports multiple VGA, SVGA, XGA, and 1280x1024 video resolutions and is compatible with both IBM and VESA standard timing modes.
The device integrates horizontal and vertical frequency discrimination, sync polarity detection, and display mode selection into a single-chip solution, reducing board space and material costs. It provides stable synchronization for high-end display monitors, automatically adjusting screen settings based on detected video signals.
The WT8043 can process horizontal frequencies between 25KHz and 80KHz and vertical frequencies from 50Hz to 120Hz, making it highly versatile for multi-sync applications. Additionally, it generates fixed polarity horizontal and vertical sync signals to ensure proper synchronization across multiple display modes.
The device operates on a 5V power supply, and its mode select control output and frequency discrimination output can be pulled high to 12V using an external resistor. It is commonly used for auto-size control and frequency mode selection in multi-sync monitors.
