The RP5C15 is a real-time clock (RTC) IC designed for direct interfacing with 8-bit and 16-bit microprocessors, allowing fast read/write access similar to memory operations. It features a built-in clock counter and calendar function, supporting BCD-coded time tracking for years, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. With a crystal oscillator input of 32.768kHz, the RP5C15 generates selectable clock frequencies (16kHz to 1/60Hz), providing flexible timing control. The integrated alarm function allows for scheduled event triggering, while battery backup support (2.0V minimum) ensures clock operation even during power loss.
