The CDP6853E-DIP is an Asynchronous Communications Interface Adapter (ACIA) designed for easy implementation and program control of data communication between 8-bit microprocessor-based systems and data sets or modems.

This interface supports full duplex operation with buffered receiver and transmitter and provides internal baud rate generation with up to 115 programmable rates. It is compatible with MOTEL bus protocols and supports serial communication with full TTL compatibility.
