The AT29C512-12JI is a 512-Kbit (64K × 8-bit) Flash memory designed for high-reliability and non-volatile data storage in embedded systems, consumer electronics, and industrial applications. It provides fast 120ns access times, making it ideal for firmware storage and execution-in-place (XIP) operations.
Unlike traditional EPROMs, the AT29C512 does not require high programming voltages. Instead, it operates with a single 5V supply, supporting in-system reprogramming through sector-based write cycles. The 128-byte sector programming allows efficient data updates, reducing unnecessary erase cycles.
To prevent accidental modifications, the memory features hardware and software-based data protection mechanisms, including VCC sense protection and program inhibit functions. Additionally, it supports DATA polling and toggle-bit detection to indicate the end of a programming cycle.
The low power consumption and compact PLCC-32 package make this memory ideal for automotive, industrial automation, networking devices, and legacy computing applications.
