The 1N6278A is a high-power, unidirectional transient voltage suppressor designed to protect voltage-sensitive components from high-voltage, high-energy transients. It is the JEDEC registered equivalent to the 1.5KE20A TVS diode. Because it is a unidirectional "A" suffix device, it provides protection in one direction and acts like a standard silicon diode in the forward direction. This device is specifically engineered for circuit protection in communication systems, power supplies, and industrial controls where fast response times (typically less than 1 ns) and high surge capabilities are required. With a 1500-Watt peak power rating, it is robust enough to handle significant electrical stress from inductive load switching and electrostatic discharge (ESD). The DO-201AA axial package is designed for through-hole mounting and features a large thermal mass to help dissipate the heat generated during suppression events.
