The P6KE36CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor designed to protect sensitive electronic components from high-voltage transients. Because it is a "CA" version, it features a bidirectional construction, allowing it to clamp voltage spikes in both positive and negative directions. This makes it ideal for use on AC power lines or data lines where signals swing above and below ground. With a 600 Watt peak pulse power capability, this diode acts as a very fast switch that diverts excess energy away from protected circuitry during events like inductive load switching or electrostatic discharge (ESD). Its standoff voltage of 29.1V ensures it remains "invisible" to the circuit during normal operation, only becoming active once the voltage reaches the breakdown threshold.
