SB560 Schottky Barrier Rectifier

The SB560 is a high-current Schottky Barrier Rectifier specifically designed for applications requiring low power loss and high efficiency. Because it is a Schottky diode, it utilizes a metal-to-silicon junction rather than a standard P-N junction. This results in a much lower forward voltage drop and significantly faster switching speeds compared to general-purpose diodes like the 1N5400 series. These characteristics make the SB560 ideal for use in low voltage, high frequency inverters, freewheeling diodes, and polarity protection circuits. It is commonly found in switching power supplies and battery chargers where minimizing heat generation and maximizing energy transfer is critical. The larger DO-201AD package allows the device to handle a continuous 5.0 Amperes of current, provided the leads are kept relatively short to assist in heat dissipation through the PCB traces.
