KA5L380R Fairchild Power Switch (FPS)

The KA5L380R is an integrated power management IC part of the Fairchild Power Switch (FPS) family, specifically designed for off-line switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). It combines a robust 800V SenseFET with a current-mode PWM controller, allowing for high-efficiency power conversion with a very low external component count. This device includes essential protection features such as under-voltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown, and over-load protection, which enhance system reliability. It is commonly found in power supplies for consumer electronics like VCRs, set-top boxes, and DVD players, as well as adapters for camcorders and printers.
