The MSGEQ7N is a 7-band graphic equalizer IC designed for real-time audio spectrum analysis. It separates incoming audio signals into seven frequency bands (63Hz, 160Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.5kHz, 6.25kHz, and 16kHz) and provides a DC output for each band's amplitude, enabling seamless integration with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and digital signal processors (DSPs).
Designed in a compact SOIC-8 surface-mount package, the MSGEQ7N is ideal for space-constrained designs such as audio visualization systems, LED equalizers, car audio processors, and spectrum analyzers. The IC features an on-chip oscillator and requires only an external resistor and capacitor to set the clock frequency.
With low power consumption (<1mA typical) and a broad supply voltage range (2.7V – 5.5V), the MSGEQ7N is perfect for battery-operated devices, home audio systems, and professional audio equipment.
With its low power consumption, the MSGEQ7 is ideal for portable and battery-operated devices. It requires minimal external components—a resistor and a capacitor—for the internal clock oscillator. The multiplexed output simplifies design and reduces pin usage, while the on-chip ground reference ensures stable operation. The DIP-8 package makes it easy to solder and integrate into various audio-related projects.
