The MKR Connector Carrier enables any MKR board to interface with the wide range of modules and devices using the Grove Connector, a standard developed by Seeed Studio for solderless connection of analog and digital modules.

Power Supply
  • All I/Os are supplied at 5V, with the carrier providing the necessary 5V to 3.3V level shifting.
  • A buck converter on the board allows external voltage inputs ranging from 7V to 16V, supplying the MKR board with 5V and 3.3V outputs, which can also be accessed via screw terminal blocks.
Modules and Cables
  • The Grove modules use a standard four-pin connector with the following color-coded pin layout:
    • Pin 1: Yellow (e.g., SCL on I2C Grove Connectors)
    • Pin 2: White (e.g., SDA on I2C Grove Connectors)
    • Pin 3: Red (VCC on all Grove Connectors)
    • Pin 4: Black (GND on all Grove Connectors)
A0-A6 Analog Input
  • A Grove Analog connector has four lines:
    • Pin 1: An (Primary analog input)
    • Pin 2: An+1 (Secondary analog input)
    • Pin 3: VCC (Power 5V/3.3V)
    • Pin 4: GND (Ground)
  • Analog input allows up to 5V, supplied by the board. The last connector labeled A5/A6 wires two analog inputs into one connector.
D0-D6 Digital Input/Output
  • A Grove Digital connector has four lines:
    • Pin 1: Dn (Primary digital I/O)
    • Pin 2: Dn+1 (Secondary digital I/O)
    • Pin 3: VCC (Power 5V/3.3V)
    • Pin 4: GND (Ground)
  • Digital I/O allows up to 5V, and the board supplies 5V to the sensor. The last connector labeled D5/D6 wires two digital I/O into one connector.
